About me
As Executive Director, Tina Foster (she/her) leads JustCause in pursuing its mission to improve the quality of life of low-income residents of Monroe County by ensuring the existence of a readily available panel of skilled volunteer attorneys to resolve serious legal problems. Tina is an experienced human rights lawyer who returned to her hometown of Rochester, NY in 2017. She attended Cornell Law School, and was a law clerk at the United States Court of International Trade. Tina has been a litigation associate at a large private law firm in New York City, as well as an attorney with the Center for Constitutional Rights, where she was a co-founder of the Guantanamo Global Justice Initiative. Tina’s leadership is informed by her lived experience as an immigrant who spent her early childhood in a low-income household in our community. She was recently awarded the Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg “Beacon” award by the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee of the New York State Bar Association, and provided remarks at the annual meeting of its members in New York City on January 2024.
