About me
Yvonne began her career at NLSLA more than 48 years ago, as a Paralegal/Interpreter. She was the NLSLA Deputy Director for 25 years, and became President and CEO in 2019. She is a self-proclaimed beneficiary of the transformative work legal aid provides to low-income families. When Yvonne was a child, her mother was represented by the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, a LSC-funded sister organization, which obtained SSI benefits to keep her family economically stable.
Yvonne's enduring commitment to expanding access to opportunity and justice has made her a fierce advocate for people living in poverty throughout Los Angeles. Yvonne has a demonstrated background in litigation and policy advocacy in those areas that most impact people living in poverty, including housing, domestic violence and family law, immigration, public benefits and health.
Over the years at NLSLA, Yvonne has led policy advocacy related to immigration, domestic violence, health, economic development and housing. Yvonne earned her B.S. in Business Administration at USC and her J.D. at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. She is proficient in Spanish.
