About me
Malinda Eskra (she/her) is the Managing Attorney of Legal Action of Wisconsin’s Milwaukee office, the largest nonprofit provider of civil legal services in the state. She oversees teams working in housing stability, family law, public benefits, elder rights, and criminal records relief, and supports client-centered advocacy and systemic reform across the office.
Malinda provides supervision and administrative support for Legal Action’s Overdose Prevention Project, working alongside staff attorneys and a paralegal who lead the project’s direct outreach and advocacy. The project provides civil legal aid for people impacted by substance use disorder and focuses on reducing legal barriers related to housing instability, access to public benefits, and criminal records through a harm reduction framework.
Before joining Legal Action, Malinda was a shareholder at Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c., where she co-chaired the firm’s Appellate and Employee Benefit Litigation Practice Sections and represented clients in complex commercial litigation and pension fund matters. She previously clerked at the Wisconsin Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
Malinda holds a J.D. from Marquette University Law School and a B.A. in Political Science and Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She lives in Milwaukee with her husband, two children, and their rescue pit bull, Flo, and has perfected the art of drafting emails in a parking lot while waiting at kids’ soccer practices.
