About me
Lorin is the Director of Advocacy at the Legal Aid Association of California and has been with LAAC since early 2014. Lorin leads LAAC's advocacy program, which speaks as the unified voice for the community of more than 100 legal aid organizations in California. LAAC's advocacy aims to increase funding for legal aid, increase access to courts, and to improve the delivery of legal services. Her work has helped bring tens of millions of new state dollars to legal aid. Since 2016, Lorin has spearheaded efforts to improve collaboration between state agencies and legal aid. This work, among other benefits, has resulted in more than $50 million in legal services provided in partnership with state programs. She has also worked for many years on collaborative efforts to ensure low-income litigants have access to a verbatim record of their court proceedings.
Lorin is a 2010 graduate of the University of California, Davis School of Law. Before joining LAAC, Lorin practiced private civil litigation in the Bay Area, handling numerous pro bono matters. Prior to law school, Lorin received her Bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Neuroscience from Washington University in St. Louis. She is a native of Lake Tahoe, still her favorite place on earth, and is a lifelong lover of the mountains. She lives in San Francisco with her husband and daughter.
