About me
Kiara Hunt (they/them) is the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Legal Aid Services of Oregon (LASO). They hold bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology and are currently a PhD student in Psychology at Oregon State University, where their research centers on liberatory cognition.
Kiara is deeply committed to learning, educating, and uplifting individuals with diverse social identities who exist at the intersections of historical and ongoing marginalization and oppression. Their professional background includes roles in state government focused on policy analysis and statute development, with a strong emphasis on equity and community impact.
In addition, Kiara brings extensive experience designing and facilitating culturally responsive trainings on racial equity, LGBTQIA2S+ identities, disability justice frameworks, and rural accessibility. Kiara leads this work from their own lived expertise with multiple intersectional identities and a keen ability to mend and bring community together.
Rej Joo joined Oregon Law Center (OLC) four years ago as the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI), but he has been engaged in equity work for over 2 decades in various fields (research, community education, social service, and health care). He received his BA in psychology and MPH from Columbia University. Rej is passionate about creating a learning and unlearning environment that is grounded in cultural humility where we acknowledge the ongoing process of self-reflective work. He is a 1.5-generation Korean American trans man who grew up in Portland (OR) but spent most of his 20s and 30s in NYC.
