Felecia Zigler Pettway joined LSA in April 2017 as a Managing Attorney of the Selma Office; during her tenure as managing attorney, she successfully increased the office presence and caseload by 300%, representing clients in public benefits, housing, consumer protection, education, and elder law cases. Since 2019 Pettway has served as the Development Director for Legal Services Alabama. Her responsibilities include grant writing, fundraising, program development, and communication. She has successfully acquired funding for new programs and staff, which has moved the organization from 85% to less than 75% dependency on its primary funder.
Before joining Legal Services, Pettway was in private practice where her practice included criminal, civil, property, trust and estate, family, juvenile, and personal injury cases. Pettway also has experience in employment law as an Equal Employment Opportunity Investigator for the U.S. Postal Service and trial experience in Probate, District, and Circuit courts. Additionally, Pettway has partnered with the Alabama State Bar, The Federation of Southern Cooperatives, and the Limited Resource Land-Owners Education Assistance Network to facilitate Wills for Heroes and Heir Property and Land Loss Seminars and cases. She has participated on many Alabama State Bar Association committees and was the Teen Court Judge for the Dallas County District Court. She was an account executive with General Electric (GE), a former National Voting Rights Museum Executive Director, and interim director at Wallace Community College-Selma Business and Industry Department.
Pettway received a J.D. from Miles School of Law, a Master of Science in Management from Faulkner University, and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from The University of Alabama.
