About me
Beverly Beaver is a supervising attorney at Community Legal Services of Philadelphia in the housing unit where she primarily focuses on eviction defense. Prior to joining CLS in August of 2024, she was an attorney at the Defender Association of Philadelphia for 13 years. As an assistant public defender Ms. Beaver represented indigent defendants throughout all stages of the criminal justice process, from preliminary arraignment through trial, sentencing and post-verdict motions. She has worked as both a supervisor in the Felony Waiver and Misdemeanor Units, where she assisted new attorneys in trial preparation and courtroom practice. She has also served in the Major Trials Unit representing clients in jury trials involving the most serious non-homicide felony charges.Shw served in the Juvenile Special Defense Unit where she represented juvenile defendants charged in adult criminal court with the most serious non-homicide felony offenses. She also served in Drug Treatment Court, serving clients facing charges related to their drug use, using a holistic approach to improve both their quality of life and legal circumstances. From 2018- 2024 Ms. Beaver served in a supervisor capacity in the Felony Waiver Unit, where she supervised new attorneys as they learned how to try felony cases for the first time. From 2018 until 2022 she served as the Assistant Chief until she was promoted to Chief in January 2022.
Ms. Beaver graduated Summa Cum Laude from Moravian College, earning a bachelor's degree in Sociology and with Honors in History in 2008. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rutgers School of Law-Camden in 2011. Ms. Beaver was an Equal Justice Works and Gideon's Promise Fellow, serving in the Public Defender Corps Program from 2011-2014 at the Defender Association of Philadelphia.
