About me
Judy Hale is the Director of Pro Bono Services with the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA), where she supports pro bono projects in Pennsylvania through PBA committees, county bar associations, legal aid agencies, and with PA Free Legal Answers. She previously worked as the Pro Bono Manager at Neighborhood Legal Services (NLS), developing and supporting all aspects of pro bono work in all four counties of the NLS service area. Her past work includes NLS Staff Attorney, Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh Legal Advocacy Manager, Washington County, PA Senior Judges’ Judicial Law Clerk, and private practice.
Ms. Hale earned her Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law in 2014. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a Certificate in Women’s Studies from Ohio University and a Master of Public Administration from Seattle University. Prior to law school, Ms. Hale’s professional highlights include serving in the U.S. Peace Corps in the Republic of Moldova, and as a U.S. Secondee to the OSCE Mission to Moldova as the Anti-Trafficking and Gender Advisor.
Ms. Hale is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA) and the ACBA’s Board of Governors, Access to Justice Committee, and Women’s Law Division; the Women’s Bar Association of Western Pennsylvania; and the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) and several PBA Committees. She is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Federal Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the board of the National Association of Pro Bono Professionals, a member of the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Committee of the Pennsylvania Interbranch Commission for Fairness and Justice (since 2012), and member of Bike Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Area Peace Corps Association.
