About me
Hi there! đź‘‹
I’m David Gray, an A2J business leader with over 15 years of experience across operations, innovation, and marketing—and more than 7 years working at the intersection of technology and access-to-justice.
I currently serve as Director of Business & Strategy at LawDroid, a justice tech company powering AI solutions for legal aid, courts, and government. I lead LawDroid’s growth by developing strategic initiatives, strengthening client and partner relationships, and building efficient systems that support scalable, AI-powered legal services. My work focuses on helping justice organizations serve more people, more effectively, amid rising demand and constrained resources.
Previously, I spent 7+ years as Business Innovation Manager at Bay Area Legal Services, a legal aid serving Tampa Bay and Florida. I focused on improving operations and the delivery of legal services through innovation, collaboration, technology, and project and process management. I led a 4-person innovation team, managed multiple multi-year, six-figure grants, and served as a project lead or advisor on AI, automation, digital tools, and organizational transformation initiatives—securing and managing more than $1.3M in funding.
I’m also the Co-Founder & Advisor (former Business Director) of FosterPower, an award-winning program that improves the lives and futures of youth in foster care. I led all business functions for the program, including strategy, project and program management, grants administration and compliance, financial sustainability, funder and donor relations, and replication planning—supporting ~$1M in funding. FosterPower provides a free app, website, videos, and training that give Florida’s foster youth easy access to information on their benefits, protections, and legal rights.
In addition, I created A2J Jobs, a free national job board for access-to-justice careers that connects mission-driven professionals with organizations serving low-income and vulnerable communities. (Acquired by LSNTAP, May 2025).
Earlier in my career, I worked in marketing and communications, focusing on digital marketing, web design and development, branding, and PR—holding roles in consulting, agency, startup, law firm, and corporate environments.
I hold an MBA in strategic innovation from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida, PMP and LSSBB certifications, and several legal and nonprofit certifications. I currently serve on the ABA Commission on Youth and Family Justice and the LSC Emerging Leaders Council.
